Dayton teen guilty in crash during police chase that killed Xenia man

An 18-year-old Dayton resident was found guilty today following a March crash that killed one man and severely injured a woman.

Kyndra Shackelford was driving a Chevrolet Impala stolen in Butler Twp. and was trying to evade Huber Heights police at the time of the March 17 high-speed crash. Prosecutors said Shackelford was headed south on Wagner Ford Road when she ran the red light and collided with the victim’s Chevy Blazer at the Needmore Road intersection in Harrison Twp. Marcus Harper, 50, of Xenia was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger, 53-year-old Loretta Creech, suffered critical injuries, police and prosecutors said. Shackelford suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Shackelford was found guilty as charged on all counts, including: aggravated vehicular homicide; aggravated vehicular assault; failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer; and grand theft (motor vehicle).
