Deputies investigate Needmore Road shooting

HARRISON TWP. — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit is investigating a shooting at a Sunoco gas station on Tuesday.

Deputies at the sheriff’s office Harrison Twp. substation heard and responded to several gun shots fired around 9:19 p.m. in the 2001 Needmore Road area, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies found a  green Dodge Caravan with one bullet hole in the front passenger door molding, according to the news release.

A man at the gas station in the Needmore Road and Dixie Drive when the shooting occurred called 911 and reported someone inside a dark colored vehicle started shooting.

“I was getting gas, and somebody just started shooting on Needmore,” he said to the dispatcher.  “ ... I was minding my own business, and all I heard was a bunch of gunshots,” he said.

A preliminary investigation determined a known suspect approached the victim and fired three rounds striking the van once and the concrete slab underneath twice, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies reported the suspect then fled eastbound on Needmore Road in a charcoal silver sedan.
