CASSTOWN (JAN. 14) – A woman called Miami County sheriff’s deputies complaining that a neighbor was coming to her house too often asking for beer and cigarettes. The woman said she called her landlord about her concern and he told her to call the sheriff. A deputy said he spoke with the neighbor about the complaint. The neighbor said he wasn’t aware he had been doing anything wrong but would not visit the neighbor in the future unless he was invited.

CONCORD TWP., MIAMI COUNTY (JAN. 13) – A fight between inmates at the Miami County Incarceration Facility was sparked by an allegation that an inmate had stolen another inmate’s toothpaste. Correction officers had to break up the physical fight between the two inmates around 12:30 a.m. Both inmates were charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct following a warning.

VANDALIA (JAN. 9) – A man told police someone accessed his personal information on his cell phone and used that information to purchase $1,200 in Bitcoin currency. The man said he changed the phone password and had not seen any additional purchases. Police said they were investigating the incident.

VANDALIA (JAN. 9) – A resident of Maple Street called police to report an intoxicated man was in his residence. Police said the man was evaluated by medics and did not need medical care. However, a warrant for the man’s arrest out of Vandalia Municipal Court was located. The man was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

VANDALIA (JAN. 6) – A man called police to report his wife was being disorderly. People said they found a warrant for the woman’s arrest through Middletown police. After contacting Middletown police, local police were told that department would not pick up the woman. She was released from custody and no charges filed on the complaint made by her husband.

VANDALIA (JAN. 5) – Police looking for a person staying at a local motel thought they had found the man but he gave them a different name. Police aid they used information about the man’s tattoos from his criminal history to confirm his identity. With confirmation, he was arrested on two probation violation warrants from Montgomery County. He also was charged with obstructing official business.
