Police blotter

ENGLEWOOD (MARCH 12) – A man was charged with two counts of assault after he allegedly attacked a customer and a manager at Steak N Shake on North Main Street around 12:30 a.m. A woman told police the man was arguing with friends when he looked at her, growled and attacked. The man allegedly grabbed her by the hair and pushed her to the floor before being restrained by business employees. The manager said he was bitten in the neck during the altercation. Police said the man also was charged with criminal damaging for breaking dishes during the assaults. The man told police he had consumed a marijuana brownie but had not abused any other substances.

TIPP CITY (MARCH 4) – A man reported to police that his vehicle was bumped the previous evening on the Interstate 75 northbound exit ramp. He said there was no damage but the female driver involved followed his car for about an hour “acting nuts.” The man said he only wanted police aware of the encounter.

PIQUA (MARCH 9) – Police were called to the area of Sunset Cleaners on South Downing Street on a report of a possible fight among juveniles. Police reported they didn’t find a fight but instead a group of Boy Scouts working on a project.

VANDALIA (FEB. 17) – A baggie of marijuana was found in the wallet of a juvenile being questioned by police following a disturbance complaint near the library. The juvenile asked police who put the baggie in his wallet. The two boys being questioned later were released to their parents with a possession of charge filed in juvenile court against the one boy and the second boy warned for trespassing.

VANDALIA (MARCH 4) – A man destroyed the lobby of the Travelodge before fleeing in a black vehicle. While trying to report his vehicle stolen, the man became irate, threw furniture and punched a computer, police were told. He faces charges of menacing and reckless operations, when located, police reported.

VANDALIA (MARCH 2) – A car going 11 mph on South Dixie Drive at 2:30 a.m. was stopped after police noticed a flat tire. The driver said a second car following him was his mother who was making sure he made it home OK because the tire was low on air. Police said the man had three driving under suspension convictions and a 12-point license suspension. He was given a citation for driving under suspension and the license plates on the vehicle seized.
