Police blotter

VANDALIA (JULY 4) – Police were called to the Vandalia Coin and Laundry on a report of a woman assaulted and a second woman who was threatened during an argument over money. The woman assaulted said a woman she knew knocked her to the ground in the parking lot, causing injury, before she was able to lock herself in the bathroom. A second woman said she was threatened by the same woman as she pulled into the business. The woman was charged with domestic violence and aggravated menacing, and jailed.

UNION TWP., MIAMI COUNTY (JULY 8) –A Rangeline Road resident reported around 7 a.m. that two black boar pigs were running loose on his property. The man said the boars damaged his vehicle including the side mirror and left scuff marks and scratches on the side. The pigs were seen nosing through trash. A nearby resident came and stated the pigs were not his but he would put them in a pen until the owners were found.

CONOVER (JULY 8)- A Miami County sheriff’s deputy on patrol around 6:30 p.m. reported seeing two children under the age of five walking along Alcony-Conover Road in the Miami County village. The children were asked their first names and asked to show the deputy where they lived. The children’s parents said they were supposed to be at a friend’s house and they had no idea the children were walking on the road. The parents were warned for child endangering.

PLEASANT HILL (JULY 9) – Miami County sheriff’s deputies called to check on a car with its doors open around 3 a.m. found two highly intoxicated people slumped over inside. Deputies said they were able to wake up the two, who were disoriented and couldn’t remember where they had been. A deputy located a nearby house where they had been visiting. The occupant said the two, who refused any hospital check or treatment, could stay for the night. The man and woman were charged with underage consumption of alcohol.

VANDALIA (JULY 2) – A man and woman were charged after the man was seen driving with a suspended license and then trying to switch places with a passenger as a police officer attempted to stop their vehicle. The officer said he clearly saw the man, who he knew had a suspended license, driving the car and attempted to stop it. As the vehicle turned and pulled toward the curb, he said he saw the man trying to switch places with the passenger, who was the car owner. The man was charged with no seat belt, driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia. The woman was cited for wrongful entrustment of a vehicle and no seat belt
