Police search for owner of unattended running van outside of restaurant

DAYTON — City officers were searching for the owner of an unattended van left running for several hours outside of Angie's Firehouse Tavern.

Dayton police were dispatched at 11:19 a.m. to the 700 block of Watervliet Avenue Thursday morning.

The 911 caller reported the van, a 1998 Nissan Quest, had been running since 1:30 a.m., according to police incident report.

During an interview with police, an Angie’s employee said he noticed the empty running van, and checked to see if anyone was inside. He saw a wallet inside the vehicle, according to the incident report.

The license plate and driver's license belonged to same Springboro resident, according to police.

Officers were unable to reach the vehicle owner.
