Police search for suspects in Cedarville credit card scam

Cedarville Police are still looking for a pair of suspects that continue to use stolen credit card information in the area.

The pair has reportedly encrypted small cards with the stolen information and are using those cards at stores such as Wal-Mart or Kroger. The pair then utilizes the self check out options and swipe multiple cards until one of them works.

CEDARVILLE — The Cedarville Police Department is searching for suspects involved in a recent credit card scam.

Several individuals in Greene County were defrauded after the suspects copied credit card numbers and potentially used a counterfeit telecommunications device allowing victims to incur charges without their knowledge or consent, according to police.

These suspects were recorded using counterfeit credit cards at shopping centers and superstores in the area, according to police.

The suspects typically use self-checkout lanes and potentially use more than one card. The cards used by the suspects usually do not include a chip.
