Police seek FBI help in armed AT&T robbery, ties to theft ring

Police said the FBI has been contacted about a robbery this week at an AT&T store in Miami Twp. with up to 15 customers inside.

A call to federal authorities was made because authorities are looking into whether the robbery at the Miamisburg-Centerville Road store Wednesday afternoon may be linked to a string of others, said Miami Twp. Sgt. Paul Nienhaus.

“There’s a thought that it might be part of a ring” because other crimes are similar “and we’re trying to see if – based on the method of operation – we suspect they’re probably part of the same ring,” Nienhaus said Thursday.

Nienhaus said investigators are confident there was “at least one” gun involved, and possibly two. The two robbers who entered the store are both described as African-American men, one being about 6-foot-1 and the other about 5-foot-10, he said.

Nienhaus said investigators are in the process of reviewing video to better identify the two men. He said images and documents relating to the investigation should be released in the coming days.
