8 shots fired into Middletown apartment

At least eight shots were fired into a Middletown apartment Thursday morning while the residents were sleeping, according to a police report.

Police found several bullet holes inside the living room drywall at an apartment in the 6900 block of Mount Vernon Street in the Robin Springs complex.

The female resident told police her three children — ages 15, 14 and 12 — and her sister were sleeping upstairs at 1:15 a.m., the time of the shooting. There were no injuries.

When questioned about the motive of the shooting, she told police her 19-year-old son had recently argued with people in Hamilton.

Police found 13 shell casings from a 9 mm gun behind the apartment, according to the police report.

Later, a male resident told police he heard 10 shots and saw two men running away from where the shots were fired. The men then got into a white SUV and drove away, according to the police report.

Police also found at least two rounds in a neighboring vacant apartment.
