A Springfield man was arrested on several outstanding warrants earlier this week after he allegedly gave officers a fake name during a traffic stop.

Brian T. Thomas, 30, pleaded not guilty to falsification charges in the Clark County Municipal Court on Tuesday. Bond was set at $1,000.

Thomas was pulled over on Feb. 2 by Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies on East Main Street for making a lane violation and a turn signal violation, according to a police report. Thomas pulled over into the parking lot of CVS Pharmacy and attempted to get out the car. Thomas allegedly told deputies his name was “Bryant Thompson” and that his birthday was “2-6-1988.”

Deputies later confirmed Thomas generally uses a fake name, the report said. He was able to be identified and was taken into custody. He’s also facing charges from three outstanding warrants, including driving under suspension, operating without a valid license and failure to obey a traffic control device.

Inside his vehicle, deputies found two syringes and two pipes that were collected and destroyed, according to a police report.

Thomas remains in the Clark County Jail.
