VIDEO: Carjack victims kidnap teen suspect from N.M. parking lot

Albuqueque, N.M. police have arrested two carjacking victims who are accused of taking the law into their own hands, tracking down the suspect and taking revenge.

Police say recently released surveillance video from a 7-11 store shows Juan Saavedra, 37, running after a teenage boy dressed in a white shirt, cornering him and dragging him away after a brief struggle. The March 8 video shows Saavedra holding what appears to be an automatic weapon during the struggle.

The 15-year-old boy told police that Saavedra and Christal Holliday, 23, then tied his hands and wrists and drove him to a remote area, where he was “tazed about 50 times” and thrown into a dirt hole about 5 feet deep.

Police said the couple had earlier reported being the victims of a carjacking, then drove around the area trying to track down the suspect themselves. They spotted the teen, then kidnapped him, police said.

The teen also claimed that the couple tried to force him to place his fingerprints on a knife and bullet so they could say he had tried to attack them in an attempt to plead self-defense, if necessary. The couple later drove the boy back toward Albuquerque where he escaped from the vehicle, police said.

According to the police report, the teen said Saavedra and Holliday probably kidnapped him because he had carjacked them the night before.

Saavedra and Holliday are each charged with kidnapping with great bodily harm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and other charges. A judge ordered the two held on $50,000 bonds.

It is unclear if the teen has been charged in the carjacking.
