Woman robbed at gunpoint with baby in car in Dayton

DAYTON — A woman with a 3-month-old baby in the car was robbed at gunpoint near Michael Avenue Wednesday morning, according to a city police report.

The victim, a Middletown resident, told police she drove to the area to deliver a ring she was selling to a potential buyer. She advertised the 14-karat gold ring  with diamonds on the Offer Up website.

The ring is valued at an estimated $400, according to the police report.

The victim reported a man contacted her, and said he wanted to purchase the ring for his mother. He said he would pay extra for her to deliver ring.

When the victim drove to the address the potential buyer gave her on Michael Avenue, a man motioned to her to pull into an alley.

When she pulled into the alley, another man pointed a gun at her and told her to give him everything she had, the victim reported.

“(The victim) stated she was pleading with the man not to shoot because there was a baby in the car,” wrote, Dayton Police Officer Gregory Thornton.

There was passenger in the back seat holding a 3-month-old baby, according to the incident report.

The gunman then asked for the ring, the victim reported.

The gunman ran from the area after the victim gave him the ring.

Police were unable to locate the gunman.
