Englewood man revived with Narcan says he only smokes marijuana

An Englewood man had to be revived with Narcan after his wife found him unresponsive in his garage.

But the man denied to medics “taking any medications or opiates and said he only smoked marijuana,” according to the police report.

Jeffrey W. Kurpe, 52, of Englewood Drive, was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct while becoming aggressive on the way to Good Samaritan North Emergency Room.

This happened May 12 when Englewood police received a frantic 911 call that Kurpe was unresponsive in his garage.

The woman told medics her husband “does not use drugs, he only smokes marijuana," the report reads.

Medics had to use eight milligrams of Narcan to revive him after 10 minutes of working on him.

When Kurpe awoke in the ambulance, he said he was very mad he was being accused of using drugs and he did not want to go to hospital.

He was charged with disorderly conduct and pleaded no contest in Vandalia Municipal Court May 17. He was fined $216 in criminal and court fees.

A 30-day jail sentence was suspended on condition Kurpe have no other criminal offenses in two years.
