U-Haul to offer self storage options for Dayton residents

U-Haul announced the creation of a new 138-unit self-storage center in Montgomery County.

The business re-purposed a former shopping plaza at 3936 Salem Ave. The property now includes 138 indoor climate-controlled storage units. Self-storage customers have access to 24-hour electronic key-card entry and security features.

Units vary in size and prize. U-Haul has had a location on Salem Avenue since 1992, but the self storage units fill a need in the area, according to a news release.

“Self-storage is a booming business with a lot of our customers,” said general manager Matt Barnhill. “There wasn’t a whole lot of storage in this area until we stepped in and met a need.”

U-Haul already has a presence in the Miami Valley. In June 2015, U-Haul announced plans to expand operations in the city of Riverside by investing at least $2 million into a property adjacent to its existing location on Linden Avenue. Earlier that year, the company bought the shopping center that formerly housed Dick's Sporting Goods and h.h. gregg stores at 234 and 240 N. Springboro Pike (Ohio 741).
