“As I close my 14-year presidency this week, it’s a bittersweet moment. I’ve been touched by the kind words and prayers of support as we transition to new leadership. I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together — it’s one of the great stories in higher education,” Curran wrote to alumni.

Curran took over at UD in 2002. He is stepping down at the end of the week and will be succeeded by Dr. Eric Spina, former provost at Syracuse University.

UD last produced a commemorative book to celebrate its sesquicentennial. “University of Dayton: 1850-2000 from Nazareth to the new Millennium” is now out of print.
