Arson suspected after stolen car found on fire behind Jefferson Twp. house

Deputies said a stolen car was intentionally set on fire behind a vacant home in Jefferson Twp. early Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 200 block of Colgate Avenue in Jefferson Twp. around 1:20 a.m. on first reports of a grass fire behind a house.

First units on the scene found the source of the fire was a fully involved car fire, and was extinguished by the Jefferson Twp. Fire Department.

The car was later determined to be stolen, and arson was deemed the cause of the fire, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said in a media release.

Deputies did not indicate if they have any suspects and additional details were not available.
