Columbus man killed in state Route 4 crash

UPDATE @ 11:28 p.m.: The fatality in the T-bone collision on state Route 4 in Fairborn is 33-year-old Jeffrey White of Columbus, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

White was a passenger in a 1998 Subaru Legacy that was turning left off Ohio 4 onto Bath Road when it was hit broadside by a 2008 Chevrolet Impala about 3:50 p.m.

The Legacy was being driven by Michael White, 29, also of Columbus. The other passengers were Charley White, 30, and Dameon White, 10 months, all of Columbus. Only the baby was in a child safety seat. None of the others had their seat belts in use.

The Impala was being driven by Brendan Bannan, 18, of Dayton. His two passengers were Tommy Sims and Jailon Curtis, 19 and 17, also of Dayton.

Bannan was taken to Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek. Michael and Charley White, Curtis and Sims were taken to Miami Valley Hospital. The child was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital. All of them suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The southbound lanes of state Route 4 were closed approximately three hours for the investigation, which is continuing, according to the statement released by the patrol’s Xenia post.
