Fully engulfed house fire spreads to neighboring homes in Dayton

UPDATE @ 7:50 a.m: A massive house fire that occurred on Burkhardt Avenue spread to two nearby homes early Tuesday.

Crews responded to the house in the 100 block and found it fully engulfed in flames just after 6 a.m.

Smoke and flames started to spread to the houses on both sides of the burning home as soon as crews arrived on scene, according to emergency scanner traffic.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and control the exposure to the neighboring homes.

It is unknown if occupants were inside either of the houses.

Dayton Power & Lights, as well as Vectren gas professionals were called to cut the power and gas.

Fire crews are responding to a reported fully engulfed house fire on Burkhardt Avenue early Tuesday.

Initial reports indicate the fire was spreading to nearby homes in the 100 block just after 6 a.m.

This is the second house fire that firefighters responded to this Christmas morning. The first occurred on Kratochwill Street around 3 a.m. where neighbors helped the residents escape.
