The vote was decided at a meeting earlier this evening at the Rec West Facility.

EARLIER REPORT

A local developer is seeking approval tonight from Washington Twp. trustees on what has been a hotly debated topic for residents near the former Hithergreen Center.

Developer Peebles Homes wants to develop the land at 5900 Hithergreen Drive and build 35 new homes on the property, according to Ryan Lee, zoning manager for the township.

The township still currently owns the property, according to records.

During a Washington Twp. zoning meeting last month, the zoning commission recommended denial of the proposal, however the Montgomery County planning commission recommended approval of the proposal, Lee said.

The proposed homes on the nearly 15 acre parcel of land would have a price range of $275,000 to $400,000, records show.

Peebles Homes expect the development would take between 3 and 3.5 years to develop, according to township documents.

Tom Peebles with Sugarcreek Twp.-based Peebles Homes said he met with concerned neighbors of the property in May to discuss the future of the site. Several residents voiced concerns with wanting to leave more open, green space on the site.

Monday’s meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Theater Room at Washington Twp. Rec West, 965 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd.

The trustees could take a vote following a public hearing and presentation from the developer.
