High-speed pursuit ends with crash, arrest

An overnight high-speed pursuit beginning in Clark County ended Sunday morning with a crash and an arrest in the area of Ohio 571 and Interstate 75 in Tipp City.

Charles Dean Wiley, 28, of New Carlisle was wanted on several outstanding felony warrants when deputies tried to pull him over in the Park Layne area around 12:30 a.m., deputies said.

Wiley fled from deputies and crashed his truck into a ditch and then he ran into a field, where he was eventually captured around 20 minutes after the pursuit began, according to a release from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Wiley had warrants for felony receiving stolen property, felony failure to comply, obstructing official business, reckless operation and several other charges.  He also was wanted by Fairborn police, deputies said.

Clark County deputies were assisted by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Tipp City police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Wiley was booked into the Clark County Jail, where he is awaiting his arraignment.
