Deborah Ogletree, a Jefferson Twp. resident, the fairgrounds could benefit the township which she referred to as a dying community, but she still had concerns about the move.
“I live on Dayton-Liberty Road,” she said. “I’m concerned about the amount of traffic that’s going to come up and down those roads.”
The board presented renderings of the new facilities at the Arthur Fisher site which is now mostly used for disc golf, barbecues and other outdoor activities.
“They just have the concern that it’s their home, and it’s something new and it’s something people will adjust to I think and make the best of,” said Edward Bronston, a township resident.
Jefferson Twp. Administrator Steven Woolf said the community needs to support the move.
“If you want Jefferson Township to come back and to protect it from losing anything else we all have to do this together,” Woolf said.
Concerns and questions about the fairgrounds’ economic impact still linger, but some residents say they are willing to give it a chance.
“Nothing beats a failure, but a try so every chance that we have to grow or expand or get something new some new services new facility I think that’s always a positive,” Bronston said.
