A man was arrested late Saturday night after he allegedly fired shots near the club where he recently worked as a security guard.

Shawn Jermaine Parker, 42, is being held on suspicion of felonious assault for allegedly firing shots near a night club in the 1900 block of North Main Street, according to the Dayton police report.

According to the police report, the suspect fired shots at the business, but the owner of the club said no rounds struck the building and the incident did not involve her business. The club owner said the suspect was not an employee of the club, but worked for the security agency that the club hires.

Witnesses told police the suspect pulled up around 2:40 a.m. in a dark blue Ford Explorer and fired three shots from a .22-caliber handgun, then turned the gun toward one of the witnesses and fired three more shots, according to the report.

The suspect sped away, but witnesses were able to identify the shooter as a former security guard at the club, according to the report.

No one was struck by the gunfire and no one was injured.

Parker was arrested that night in the 2200 block of Kipling Drive. He is scheduled to appear for an arraignment in Dayton Municipal Court on Tuesday.
