Police continue search for driver in I-75 pursuit

UPDATE @5:51 a.m. 

Piqua police say the pursuit started at Walmart in Piqua after police responded on a report of a suspicious vehicle.

An officer attempted to talk to the suspect, who police say may have been involved with a theft from the store. The suspect fled, almost striking the officer.

Police pursued the suspect, who drove a silver Nissan Versa, onto southbound I-75, but had to discontinue the chase because of construction in the area.

Ohio State Highway Patrol joined the pursuit, but lost the vehicle, according to police. Troy police located the vehicle in Miami County.

After the chase ended, law enforcement officers identified the three passengers in the vehicle, and released them from custody with the car.

Police are still searching for the driver, a Huber Heights resident, who left the area on foot.

Police recovered the suspected stolen item from Walmart in the vehicle. No one was injured.

TROY — A law enforcement pursuit on Interstate 75 early Wednesday morning ended in the Eldean Road area.

Ohio State Highway Patrol is one of the law enforcement agencies who attempted to stop the vehicle.

According to scanner traffic, the suspect vehicle reached up to 90 mph at one point.
