Police crash Beavercreek boy’s birthday party

Law enforcement officers went on a special covert mission today in Beavercreek.

They arrived on scene in numbers and emerged from their cruisers. Sirens blazing and K-9s in pursuit, the officers successfully surprised a 2-year-old at his birthday party.

Alex Natarian and his party guests were expecting a regular celebration, so they were ecstatic to see officers with gifts in hand and dogs ready to be petted.

"It's something that we don't get to do a lot. We get to somewhat crash a birthday party, have fun, act like kids and give him the best birthday he can have," said Officer Nate Speelman of the Dayton Police Department.

Jana Natarian, Alex's mother, reached out to Dayton police and asked if they could do something special for her son's birthday party.

Even so, Natarian did not envision the response.

"We heard all of these sirens so we were all surprised," she said. "We weren't expecting this."

The children spent time with the officers, took a tour of their cruisers and got their hands in some fur.

"In the invite it said that he really likes police dogs," said Speelman. "So we have a dog from the Dayton International Airport, the city of Dayton and the Greene County Sheriff's Office."

Alex's parents said this is something their family and friends will always remember.

"We are very surprised that they would go way out of their way to do this for our little boy," Natarian said.
