According to the folks with the rescue organization, the dog's 19-year-old owner threw her down the stairs and beat her with the implement Jan. 28 because she urinated in his bedroom. The 19-year-old's mother put him out of the house and tried to take care of the pup. That attempt lasted until Friday, when the mother asked Joseph's Legacy for help.

They took Valhalla to the Monroe pet hospital in Butler County, where medics confirmed that both the dog's rear legs and pelvis had been broken. The dog underwent surgery, to insert pins in her legs, at an animal hospital in Cincinnati.
The $3,500 bill for the surgery still has not been covered and the agency is asking for donations that can be directed to donate@josephslegacyrescue.org or mailed to P.O. Box 3, Middletown, Ohio, 45042.
Vally, as she is called by the organization's workers, will need lots of physical therapy for months to come.
