Man arrested after barricading himself, daughter in Xenia apartment

UPDATE @ 3:55 p.m. 

Joshua Daye, 32, was arrested at the scene of a standoff at an apartment complex on Newport Road in Xenia, according to online jail records.

Daye was arrested and charged with domestic violence and obstructing official business. He was also arrested for an outstanding warrant for a felonious assault charge.

Police said he barricaded himself and his young daughter inside an apartment after he allegedly assaulted a woman.

After 90 minutes, police said he surrendered without incident.

“We were prepared to use any special tool, but at the end of the day he unlocked the door, opened the door, and came out,”  Xenia police Capt. Steve Lane said.

UPDATE @ 11 a.m.

The standoff has ended and a male suspect is in police custody.

We’re working to learn more about police activity reported at an apartment complex on Newport Road in Xenia.

Initial reports indicate a man has barricaded himself inside an apartment following a domestic incident.

Medics have been requested to the scene, but are remaining away from the complex, according to scanner traffic.
