Gunman targets Security National Bank in Springfield

Springfield police investigators remain on the scene after an armed robbery happened late this morning at Security National Bank in Springfield.

The robbery was reported around 1:45 p.m., shortly before the noon Saturday closing time at the bank, 1756 N. Limestone St., when a man with a gun approached a teller.

The suspect possibly fled in a red Chevrolet Impala with two other men inside, according to initial reports, and another person in the car later left in a U-haul rental vehicle, early reports indicate.

No injuries were reported.

Springfield police are searching for a suspect who reportedly robbed a Springfield bank.

Crews were dispatched to the Security National Bank in the 1700 block of North Limestone Street around 11:40 a.m., according to dispatchers.

Initial reports indicate a clerk called police after a man in a mask wielding a handgun walked into the bank.

Dispatchers said limited information is available at the moment, but said crews are in the area investigating a potential robbery.

Police are reportedly searching for a moving truck that fled the scene with two suspects inside, according to scanner traffic.
