President Lynne Henson stated that their primary reason for the location choice was to retain their employees.

The company moved from Wadsworth Road in Harrison Twp. Their old building was roughly 30,000 square feet. The new location is 100,000 square feet. Superior Abrasives makes coated abrasive products, typical for industrial applications. They employ roughly 85 people now, with plans to grow in the coming years.

Superior is owned by PFERD Inc., the Unites States subsidiary of Germany’s family-owned August Ruggeberg & Co.

PFERD CEO Jorn Bielenberg told the employees that the building was the fulfillment of a promise that he made when Superior Abrasives was acquired in 2012.

“For us, it’s important to have the right people, and we know we have the right people at Superior Abrasives,” said Bielenberg. “We have a good management group and good employees.
