Police met the victim at Dayton Children’s Hospital. He told the officers he was walking home from Wright Brothers Middle School when he was approached by a group of three juveniles and one female, according to the report.
One in the group, estimated to be 17 years old, stepped forward and punched the victim in the face, then pushed him down onto the sidewalk, grabbed his black and red Nike Air Jordan shoes and ran, according to the report.
Police said an unidentified mail carrier saw what happened and ran after the thief, eventually catching up to the thief and recovering the shoes.
The victim was bruised and swollen under his right eye and suffered scrapes and cuts on his left elbow, according to the report.
Police said the victim did not recognize anyone in the group.
The victim in the second incident — Which happened less than an hour later on Whitmore Avenue — is a 12-year-old boy who was walking home after band practice at the World of Wonders Elementary School, according to the report.
The boy told police he was approached by a male he knows from the neighborhood and one other male whom he did not recognize.
The boy didn’t see the third person who came up from behind and struck him in the head, according to the report.
The victim reported the male he didn’t recognize then punched him in the face and pushed him down, taking his black hightop Nike Air Jordan shoes, valued at $150.
Police said the shoe-less victim walked to his grandmother’s apartment and reported what happened.
