5 things you need to know about the Gatlinburg wildfires

One of the worst fires in Tennessee has destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses effectively shutting down parts of Gatlinburg which draws up to 11 million tourists a year.

Here are five things you need to know about the wildfires in Gatlinburg:

1. Authorities confirmed at least 10 people were killed as result of the wildfires.

2. Approximately 14,000 people were evacuated from the Gatlinburg area.

3. Authorities believe the wildfires were started by a person.

4. The wildfires started in the Great Smoky Mountains before spreading to Gatlinburg.

5. Main roads to Gatlinburg will reopen on Dec. 5 at the earliest.
