Vandalia’s trash rates to rise with new Rumpke contract

VANDALIA – The Vandalia City Council voted to renew the contract with Rumpke for trash and recycling collection.

The five-year deal with the company will set rates at $10.83 for trash and $1.95 for recycling for curbside pickup in 2017. These rates increased by 51 cents.

The old rate for combined pickup was $12.27 per month. With the raise, the new rate will be $12.78 per month.

Under the contract, residents will no longer be required to purchase yard waste bags. Yard waste will be able to be placed in the refuse containers or put into regular trash bags on regularly scheduled collection days.

The next regularly scheduled meeting is on Monday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
