Wright State to host transgender mental health summit

FAIRBORN — Wright State University will host a conference designed to identify mental health risks for transgender and gender diverse populations.

The Greater Dayton Transgender Mental Health Summit: Developing Skills and Confidence for Gender Diverse Populations will be hosted on Friday, March 3 at the Wright State School of Professional Psychology’s Ellis Human Development Institute, 9 N. Edwin C. Moses Blvd.

Scott Leibowitz, a child and adolescent psychiatrist and medical director of behavioral health at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker.

The summit will also feature breakout sessions on issues from resilience, aging concerns, housing insecurity, and advocacy.

The summit is sponsored by the School of Professional Psychology and the Equitas Health Institute for LGBTQ Equity. The coordinator is Michelle Vaughan, associate professor in the School of Professional Psychology. CASEY LAUGHTER
