Mutual aid called to Darke County house fire; firefighter injured

UPDATE @5:07 a.m.

A firefighter that was reported to be down at the scene of a house fire in Darke County was checked on scene by a medic and is expected to be alright, fire officials said.

The firefighter is back in service at the scene of the fire in the 1400 block of Preble County Butler Township Road.

Mutual aid has been requested from several surrounding jurisdictions. Water had to be trucked in to the scene.

FIRST REPORT

A firefighter has reportedly been injured in a fire in Darke County.

The fire was reported shortly before 3 a.m. in the 1400 block of Preble County Butler Township Road. Around 3 a.m., crews reported there was an explosion and a firefighter was down, according to initial reports.

The fire reportedly started in an attached garage before spreading to the home.
