2 area lawmakers picked to fill vacancies

COLUMBUS — Oakwood attorney James Butler was appointed state representative for the 37th District by Ohio House Republicans on Tuesday.

The 37th District covers Oakwood, Miamisburg, Miami Twp., Moraine, West Carrollton and parts of Kettering and south Dayton.

Butler replaces Peggy Lehner, who moved to the Ohio Senate on Tuesday to replace Jon Husted, the new secretary of state. Lehner represents the 6th District, which covers most Dayton suburbs except those in the northeast part of Montgomery County.

House Republicans also appointed Jim Buchy of Greenville to the 77th District House seat vacated by James Zehringer of Fort Recovery, who resigned to become state agriculture director.

The 77th District covers Preble and Mercer counties and north and western Darke County.
