The Dayton Flyers will wear No. 5 on the front of their uniforms over their hearts for the second straight season, honoring late Dayton center Steve McElvene, who died in May 2016.

Josh Cunningham said Tuesday it’s important the No. 5 remains on the uniform so people don’t forget about McElvene and the newest Flyers know about him.

“We still talk about him,” Cunningham said.

On Twitter, former Dayton guard Kyle Davis wrote, “It’s only right that number five continues to fly.”
