Election aside, could Donald Trump even beat Michigan in Ohio?

The latest Public Policy Polling survey of Ohio had double bad news for Donald Trump.

First off, the Republican nominee for President trailed Democrat Hillary Clinton 44-43 in the race to win the state’s all-important electoral votes.

With that deficit within the margin for error, though, perhaps Trump should be more worried about another item from the survey:

To put Trump’s unpopularity in the state in perspective, we asked Ohioans whether they have a more favorable opinion of Trump or the University of Michigan — and ‘That School Up North’ beat out Trump 48/33.

That’s an eye-opener.

Even when the Wolverines used to be able to beat Ohio State in football, they’ve never been anything one would consider “popular” in the Buckeye State.

With the election just a few weeks away, it looks like there is more than one type of blue-leaning voter Trump might have to worry about.

Also of note from the most recent poll: Only 46 percent of voters who say they intend to vote for Clinton gave Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer a favorable rating compard to 67 percent of Trump voters.
