Thursday’s high school sports highlights

Baseball

Carlisle 19, Valley View 3: Nick Moore belted a pair of home runs, including a grand slam to lead Carlisle to the win on the road. Moore finished with 5 runs scored and 6 RBIs. Jake Glover, Shawn Watson, and Tommy Pence also went deep for the Indians (7-5).

Madison 12, Cedarville 5: Nick Svarda went 5-for-5 with a double and a home run for the Mohawks (7-5). KC Lindon added a home run, and Stephen Melton and Ethan Limon each had a double.

Oakwood 4, Brookville 3: Sophomore Brock Gorman knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jackson Jennings earned the complete game win, scattering eight hits and striking out four.

Wayne, Northmont split: In the first game of a doubleheader, Northmont defeated Wayne 3-1 behind an 11-K performance from Matt Pfeffer. The Warriors (8-7) rallied in the nightcap, downing the Thunderbolts (6-8) by a score of 3-2 in 12 innings.

Moeller 11, Troy 3: The Trojans, ranked No. 7 in Division I, fell to the top-ranked Crusaders (15-1) at Moeller on Thursday night. Dalton Cascaden drove in a pair of runs, and Hayden Kotwica plated the other run for Troy (12-3).

Fairborn 12, Carroll 2: Fairborn's Kyle Keeton had two hits and 3 RBIs and also earned the win.

West Carrollton 3, Alter 2: The Pirates scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to rally for the win.

Arcanum 7, Bethel 0: Arcanum's Connor Pohl struck out 11 and allowed one hit. Pohl also went 2-for-3 with a triple.

Anna 10, Fairlawn 0: Anna, ranked No. 5 in Division III, got a solid pitching performance from Drew Boyd, who allowed just one hit in the complete game shutout. Boyd finished with 7 strikeouts.

Softball

Centerville 16, Fairmont 0: The Elks (9-5) won their sixth straight game as junior Mollie Paulick hit a three-run home run to lead the 19-hit attack.

Lebanon 6, McAuley 0: The state's top-ranked Division I team had no problems with McAuley on Thursday night. The Warriors (16-0) were led by Hannah Huffman's three hits and Kirsten Reed's double and 2 RBIs. Lebanon pitcher Kim Frank improved to 7-0 with the win.

Northmont 14, Beavercreek 0: Sierra Sanders had a double and home run to lead the Thunderbolts (10-4).

Miamisburg 10, Piqua 1: Chevy Hayslett went 4-for-4 with a double, and freshman Erin Teaney homered and had 5 RBIs for the Vikings.

Tecumseh 6, Greenon 0: Michelle Luttrell homered and Jessica Wilson tripled and drove in three runs for the Arrows. Micaela Pierson scattered six hits in the complete game shutout.

Dixie 10, Valley View 7: Senior Abby Bertke homered, scored three runs and had 4 RBIs for Dixie (9-1).

Monroe 16, Wyoming 3: Sam Key hit a grand slam to boost Monroe (7-4). Tarin Yalich added a double and 3 RBIs.

Northwestern 5, Tippecanoe 4: The Warriors (12-2) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win. Jenna Robbins recorded her 10th win.

Marion Local 9, Fort Recovery 0: Hannah Homan had four hits and Maddie Griesdorn drove in two to lead Marion Local (7-4). Taylor Homan struck out 9 in the shutout.

Fort Loramie 16, Botkins 1: Janell Hoying singled in the third inning to pick up her 100th career hit for Fort Loramie (12-3).

Southeastern 10, Spg. Catholic Central 0: Maddy McKee and Savannah Sullivan each hit two home runs.
