If you run into Urban Meyer on the street this week, here’s a suggestion: Don’t ask about the College Football Playoff.

“No,” the Ohio State football coach said Monday when asked if potential postseason destinations would be a topic of conversation in his locker room as the Buckeyes prepare to play Illinois at 3:30 Saturday afternoon at Ohio Stadium.

“No,” he repeated, shaking his head, as the question continued. “Zero. There will be zero conversation around here, especially when you guys talk to the players this week. Zero conversation about what happened before and what’s gonna happen in the future. Zero.”

The Buckeyes are certainly still on the outside looking in when it comes to making the final four with two regular season games and championship weekend still to be played.

They dropped to 13th last week after being blown out by Iowa, but a lot can change in a week in college football.

Ohio State trounced No. 12 Michigan State while No. 1 Georgia, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 6 TCU and No. 9 Washington all lost.

What does that mean for the level of hope from the OSU perspective, though?

“Zero conversation about it,” Meyer said. “Beat Illinois.”
