Trent Jr. hits 33 as Prolific Prep snaps Trotwood win streak in Flyin’

Prolific Prep (Napa, Calif.) senior guard Gary Trent Jr. scored 33 points and house-favorite Trotwood-Madison couldn’t overcome first-half foul trouble and suffered its first loss, 100-83 in Day 4 of the Premier Health Flyin’ to the Hoop at Trent Arena on Monday.

A Duke signee, Trent is the son of former Ohio University standout Gary Trent, affectionately known as the “Shaq of the MAC” when he wreaked havoc for the Bobcats (1992-95) and later in the NBA. He watched Prolific’s win.

Abu Kigab (Oregon) added 24 points for Prolific.

Torrey Patton had four 3-pointers and a game-high 36 points for Trotwood (10-1), which vaulted to No. 1 in the state Division II rankings on Monday. On Saturday Trotwood hammered visiting Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary 100-61.

Myles Belyeu added 19 points and nine rebounds for the Rams. Trotwood had two starters with four personal fouls in the first half and another with three.
