1. Why are you seeking elected office?
Sherrod Brown
Sherrod Brown: I’ve spent my career fighting for Ohioans and the Dignity of Work – the idea that hard work should pay off for everyone, no matter who you are, where you live, or what kind of work you do. Whether that means standing up to drug companies to lower the cost of prescriptions for people on Medicare, standing up to special interests and corporations to lower costs and cut taxes for middle class families, or taking on presidents of both parties to fight bad trade deals that hurt workers, I’ll always do what’s right for Ohio. I’m running for reelection to continue delivering for Ohio – whether that’s keeping dangerous fentanyl out of our communities, standing up to Wall Street and corporate special interests to lower costs for Ohioans, or making sure servicemembers at Wright-Patt have the necessary resources to keep our country safe. I will always fight to level the playing field for all Ohioans in the Miami Valley.

2. Why do you believe you are the best choice in this race?
Sherrod Brown
Sherrod Brown: Ohioans know I will work with anyone when it’s right for Ohio and stand up to anyone who gets in the way. Some of the work for Ohioans I’m proudest of includes: When Wall Street gambled away workers’ retirement savings, I passed the Butch Lewis Act – which saved the pensions of over 100,000 Ohioans. And with Mike Turner, I am leading the fight to restore the pensions of every Delphi retiree. I worked with Republicans to successfully pass legislation to crack down on dangerous fentanyl at its source before it gets to the U.S. by sanctioning chemical suppliers in China and drug traffickers in Mexico. After a Central Ohio veteran and his family came to me, I wrote and passed the bipartisan Heath Robinson PACT Act to secure healthcare benefits for veterans exposed to toxins and burn pits. While I’ll always work for Ohioans, my opponent only looks out for himself – from refusing to pay his workers the overtime they earned, shredding evidence a judge ordered him to keep to try to get away with it, and supporting a national abortion ban, which would overturn the will of Ohioans who voted overwhelmingly last year to protect abortion rights.

3. If elected, what will be your top three priority topics?
Sherrod Brown
Sherrod Brown: I have always fought to ensure that hard work pays off for all Ohioans by holding special interests like greedy corporations and Big Pharma accountable and I am committed to lowering costs and creating a path to the middle class for all Ohio families. I will continue working to crack down on companies that reduce the size of their products without lowering costs along with capping the cost of insulin for all Ohioans and securing a cut in taxes for middle-class families. I will also continue to stand up to predatory housing investors that buy up homes in the Miami Valley and raise rents and prices – making it harder for Ohio families to find a place to live and raise a family. And I will never stop fighting for Ohio workers to ensure they can work and retire with dignity and security. That means standing up against bad policy that sends jobs overseas and hurts Ohio workers at plants like Cleveland-Cliffs Middletown and restoring benefits for Delphi retirees whose pensions were terminated at no fault of their own.

4. What specific plans do you have to address those priorities?
Sherrod Brown
Sherrod Brown: I will work with anyone to secure our southern border and I worked with Republicans and Democrats to pass legislation that will crack down on the drug cartels in Mexico to keep dangerous fentanyl out of our communities. I will also continue to support the bipartisan border security bill, which was endorsed by border patrol agents to secure the southern border and support law enforcement. Every Ohioan deserves access to the affordable, quality healthcare they need. Ohioans know I am on their side and will continue to stand up to insurance companies trying to rip off Ohioans and will continue fighting to make sure a woman's healthcare decisions stay between her and her doctor. I am committed to expanding access to birth control and IVF while my opponent has made it clear he would overturn the will of voters with a national abortion ban and opposes guaranteeing a woman’s right to access contraception and IVF.

5. Anything else voters should know about you or this race?
Sherrod Brown
Sherrod Brown: My record of delivering for Southwest Ohio and the Miami Valley speaks for itself. I have always fought to make sure Ohio leads in defense industry innovation by securing resources for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and its 26,000 active-duty personnel – from securing millions for research and development to working across the aisle with Rep. Turner to try to bring the Space Force to Ohio. I also secured investments for Joby Aviation that are creating jobs and ensuring that the aircrafts of the future are being made in Ohio by Ohio workers. I’ve always fought for Ohioans in Springfield, from supporting Springfield workers at Navistar and SILFEX to bringing new missions to the Springfield National Guard base. The city is seeing real economic growth. I know the current situation is scary and unacceptable for the entire community. I’ve been working with local leaders to ensure the people of Springfield get the resources they need and will continue to do so. Government comes down to whose side you’re on – while I’ll always fight for Ohioans, my opponent has made it clear he will only look out for himself.
