Defensive end Carlos Dunlap (illness) and left tackle Andrew Whitworth (back) did not practice Wednesday, while safety Reggie Nelson left early with a groin injury.
The good news was that Michael Johnson was a full participant. Johnson returned to practice Monday for the first time since spraining his right MCL on August 2. Head coach Marvin Lewis said at the time he thought Johnson could be ready for the season opener in Oakland, and Johnson appears to be on pace to do that.
In addition to Nelson, four other players were listed as limited participants Wednesday – cornerbacks Darqueze Dennard (groin) and Leon Hall (back), linebacker Emmanuel Lamur (hamstring) and defensive tackle Marcus Hardison (knee).
