The top-seeded Dayton Flyers will open the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament in the quarterfinals at noon Friday against No. 8 seed Fordham or No. 9 seed Richmond.

The A-10 released the bracket late Saturday night after Dayton beat Virginia Commonwealth 68-67 in overtime at UD Arena. That was the last regular-season game of the year for the conference. The final day lived up to the unpredictability of the season.

Dayton (24-6, 14-4) earned the No. 1 seed because Duquesne (16-15, 11-12) ended an eight-game losing streak with a 78-70 victory at St. Joseph’s on Senior Day for the Hawks. St. Joseph’s (24-7, 13-5) fell to the No. 4 seed.

Dayton, VCU (22-9, 14-4) and St. Bonaventure (22-7, 14-4) tied for first. It’s the first three-way tie atop the conference — not counting years in which the A-10 had divisional play — since Villanova, Duquesne and Rutgers tied at 7-3 in 1980. Xavier, George Washington and Dayton tied for the West Division crown at 11-5 in 1998.
