RNC Day 1 - Ohio Republican: Trump campaign chair '... on the lam with thugs and autocrats'

Donald Trump's campaign manager Paul Manafort blasted Ohio Gov. John Kasich on Monday morning before the Republican National Convention. Kasich's manager took his swing later.

In an email to Jonathan Martin of the New York Times, Kasich political strategist John Weaver mocked Trump for his rambling introduction of his running mate Mike Pence, then took it to Manafort.

"Manafort's problem, after all those years on the lam with thugs and autocrats, is that he can't recognize principle and integrity," Weaver said. "I do congratulate him though on a great pivot at the start of the convention after such a successful vice-presidential launch. He has brought great professionalism, direct from Kiev, to Trump world."

Weaver's Kiev reference was to Manafort, who was the campaign manager for former Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych , who is now in exile in Russia after his re-election set off a revolution in the country. Yanukovych was aligned with Putin. Manafort has had history of working campaigns for many Putin-friendly candidates in Eastern Europe.
