Sherman also urged personnel to be attentive to road conditions Tuesday.
The dismissal applied to everyone “except those personnel who are designated base-essential or mission-essential for current mission efforts as assigned by their commander or supervisor,” Sherman said in an email Monday. “This is based on the afternoon forecast of a mixed bag of rain, rain/snow, and snow within the commuting area.”
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued that began at 4 p.m. Monday and continues to 10 a.m. Tuesday for most of the area. The advisory for Butler, Warren and Clinton counties will go into effect at 11 p.m. Monday through 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Sherman urged base unit commanders to consider a “disciplined staggered release to reduce congestion at the gates.”
More tricky weather is expected Tuesday morning. New snowfall accumulations are expected to range between 2 and 4 inches north of Interstate 70, while south of Dayton 1 to 3 inches are expected
Sherman said in the email that if installation-wide action is required, the base will issue a notice by 5 a.m. Tuesday.
“However, if we are operating normally tomorrow morning, I urge all personnel to slow down, take your time, and arrive safely,” Sherman wrote.
