When was the company founded and how did it get started?
Founded in 2012, City Wide Maintenance of Dayton is a family-owned and operated business based in South Dayton. We also operate City Wide Maintenance of Cincinnati based in Fort Mitchell, KY, which was founded in 2003.
In late 2002, my father and I began exploring opportunities to own and operate our own business. We were introduced to City Wide Maintenance through a business broker. Soon after, we made the decision to head down to Kansas City to meet with the founders at the company’s corporate headquarters. We were immediately attracted to the City Wide business model, which has provided us with an opportunity to give back to small local businesses in our community. We were also excited to leverage the power of a national system to serve commercial properties in Dayton and surrounding communities. In the years following, my sister-in-law and mother joined the family business. We have been growing with each consecutive year in business. It has trulybeen a rewarding experience.
How many employees?
Currently, City Wide Maintenance of Cincinnati and Dayton employ 13 full-time team members. In addition, we have partnerships with more than 275 service providers.
How has the company grown?

Describe your job:
As the president of the company, my efforts are focused on working on the business, rather than in the business.
I am responsible for spotting problems and finding solutions, as well as setting goals and thinking about the future. I am planning, strategizing, and doing everything I can to build the best business possible.
Having said this, I will still jump in occasionally to address day-to-day challenges. I sleep with my cell phone next to my bed. I like to say that we are on-call from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. We are passionate about serving our clients and ensuring we meet and exceed their expectations.
What’s unique about your workspace?
While we have a physical office, our team members are largely based in the buildings they serve. From auto dealerships to fitness centers, medical clinics, manufacturing and office buildings, we are in a range of different buildings each and every day.
Because our business is so mobile, we can access all of our critical systems from the field. Whether it be scheduling services, booking appointments, or logging into our customer relationship management software, we are able to complete tasks on-site from iPads and laptops.
What is the one thing in your workspace you can’t work without?
City Wide Maintenance of Dayton couldn’t function without technology. We rely on mobile devices and laptops to serve our clients, whether it is our cell phones, tablets, or computers.
What’s your secret to success?
My secret to success is hiring the right people. We are in the service business. For this reason, our growth and success is dependent on hiring the best people to serve our customers. We are fortunate to have seasoned, dedicated team members and service providers who care deeply about our clients and ensure the job is always done right.
