Dayton Superior makes concrete forms and accessories, rebar splicing and support systems, construction chemicals and paving products for non-residential markets. The company has 1,200 employees worldwide, including about 110 in the Dayton area.
Dayton Superior will be providing shoring frames, joist and stringer products for the construction of the 800-foot double bore tunnel. The roof’s radius and constant curvature creates a dimensional change in three different planes within the structure, the company said.
Dayton Superior’s shoring products were selected for the project because they offer the strengthand flexibility to work within the gateway tunnel’s unique geometric design, according to the company.
Upon completion, the tunnel will lead Apple employees and guests off the Interstate 280 expressway and onto the new Apple world geadquarters campus.
“As an innovation leader in providing complete product system solution packages to the concrete construction market, we are very proud to haveour world-class shoring system selected for use in the construction of a new headquarters for Apple, one of the world’s most innovative companies,” said Jim McRickard, president and CEO of Dayton Superior.
Construction of the 176-acre Apple Word Headquarters is expected to be complete in the summer of 2016.
In 2014, Dayton Superior opened a $2 million development center within its Miamisburg headquarters.
