Murphy said the club is planning “meet-the-owners” sessions for Dragons staff and media for Monday, Aug. 25.
None of the terms of the sales agreement — including the price —have been released.
The new owners have said they will keep the current Dragons’ management team in place, including Murphy, who has been the only team president the Dragons have had since their inception in 2000.
“There will be very little community impact (from the sale), because we’ll be following the program that is already in place,” said Sakellariadis said in a telephone interview on July 1, when the sales agreement was announced. The sale had be be approved by Minor League Baseball and was subject to review of Major League Baseball.
Sakellariadis said he and his fellow owners recognize that the Dragons are “a fabulous community asset and family-oriented experience,” and said the owners will work in the background to help the team’s management enhance the fan experience.
The Dragons have placed at the top among all Single-A minor league teams in attendance each season of their existence. The team also has set the all-time consecutive sellout streak, which is now in excess of 1,000 consecutive games. The Dragons have sent more than 66 players to the majors.
