“Any Israeli company that has a manufacturing component to it is relevant to the region, because if they want to expand in the U.S. they will need to produce here,” said Bar-Or, who addressed members of the Dayton Region Manufacturers Association on Tuesday at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Dayton.
Based in Tel Aviv, Bar-Or is meeting with 45 area groups and businesses through the end of the week, including Henny Penny Corp., Midmark Corp., X-Spine Systems and Lion. On Wednesday, she will address the Dayton Area Defense Contractors Association at the Hope Hotel at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
Montgomery County Commissioner Dan Foley said the Dayton region and Israel match up well in such areas as aerospace, sensors technology and composite materials. The region’s Israel initiative is intended to grow local companies and create jobs, he said.
Dean Aber of Commercial Metal Fabricators in Dayton said his company is looking at the possibility of partnering with companies in Israel to expand its business. “It may be a great opportunity for manufacturing companies in this area to get on board with Israel, with the different technologies they are developing,” Aber said.
