Hobart to relocate Main Street operations in Troy

TROY — Hobart Brothers said Wednesday it will begin relocating its Main Street operations in Troy, where the company manufacturers solid wire and welding equipment, in August.

The solid wire operations will move to 1177 Trade Road East into the building that currently houses Hobart Ground Power. Hobart Ground Power is relocating its operations to Palmetto, Fla., in August to begin collaborating with another ground power company, Trilectron Industries.

The welding equipment operation, which produces products under the Hobart Welding Products name, will relocate to 2200 Corporate Drive near the company’s Kings Chapel plant, Hobart said.

All jobs involved in the solid wire and welding equipment operations will remain in Troy, the company said. Hobart has also offered manufacturing positions to many employees from Hobart Ground Power to help minimize job loss associated with that relocation.

Hobart said it has been experiencing significant growth this year and recently 65 temporary employees to its permanent workforce. Plans for the Main Street facility are still to be determined, but the goal is to have all current solid wire and welding equipment operations out of the building by June 2013, the company said.
