Law firm latest to move into Water Street development

The latest tenant in the Water Street District began moving into the new commercial building that anchors the $45 million mixed-use development in downtown Dayton.

Law firm Bricker & Eckler LLP is opening an office at 312 N. Patterson Blvd., in the Water Street District.

“Opening a Dayton office is a natural progression for our firm with so many clients here and our close involvement with the economic growth of this region,” Shannon Martin, a partner in Bricker’s new Dayton location, said in an announcement. “We are excited to be joining other local businesses in rebuilding Dayton’s commercial center. This is an important symbol of the region’s growing prosperity.”

The move was first announced last August.

“We are thrilled to have Bricker select downtown Dayton for its newest location,” Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley said in the firm’s statement. “We look forward to building a strong partnership with the firm and its attorneys as they continue to add to the vibrancy of the river corridor.”

The Water Street district has been steadily growing. PNC Bank last year opened its Dayton regional headquarters at the riverside district. The bank anchored the first phase of the $45 million mixed-use development, which will include a 50,000-square-foot commercial building, 215 luxury apartments, a recently announced seven-story Marriott hotel and more.

The office will initially include seven attorneys. Those include Shannon Martin practicing in health care, public finance and real estate; Janet Cooper, in education law; Kate Davis, also in education law; Beverly Meyer, education, employment and labor law; Mark Engel, tax and economic development; David Lampe, education law; and Chris Bennington, health care.

“Dayton has always been a source of innovation and industry, and our clients see great opportunity for economic development and growth in the region today,” firm Managing Partner Kurt Tunnell said.

The firm has five other locations — Columbus, Cleveland, West Chester, Marietta and Barnesville.

An open house for the new Dayton location is planned for May 11, the firm said.
